Step-by-Step Instructions
Shut Off Water and Drain Tank
Close shutoff valve. Flush. Disconnect supply line at tank.
Loosen Toilet Seat Bolts
Remove existing seat bolts. The bidet kit includes a metal/plastic plate that mounts between toilet bowl and seat.
Install Bidet Plate and T-Connector
Place plate on bowl rim. Reinstall seat with bidet plate sandwiched between. Connect kit’s T-fitting to where supply line was — this branches water to both tank and bidet.
Connect Supply Lines
Original supply line connects to T-fitting. New supply hose connects bidet to T-fitting. Hand tight + 1/4 turn.
Restore Water and Test
Slowly open shutoff. Test bidet spray pressure adjustment knob. Watch for leaks.
Most LA installations work well with cold-water-only attachments ($30–$50 range). If you want warm water, you need an attachment with a heater or one connected to your sink’s hot water line — significantly more complex install.
Some toilets aren’t bidet-compatible
Skirted (no exposed trapway), one-piece, or unusual shapes may not fit. Check compatibility before purchasing.
Real Scenarios from Our LA Service Calls
Toto Washlet upgrade
Owner upgraded from a basic bidet attachment to full Toto Washlet (heated, multiple settings). Required electrical outlet. Total install: 45 minutes plus electrician for outlet.
When to Call a Plumber Instead
DIY isn’t always the right call. Bring in a licensed plumber if any of these apply:
- Heated bidet (electrical work)
- Custom installation requiring new water lines
- Toilet with skirted base or odd shape
Frequently Asked Questions
Best bidet attachment under $50?
Tushy Classic, Luxe Bidet Neo 120. Both well-regarded, basic cold-water.
Hot water vs cold?
Cold is fine for most. Hot adds complexity but more comfortable in winter.
Can I take it with me when I move?
Yes — re-removable in 5 minutes.
Do I still use toilet paper?
Some — for drying. Most bidets reduce TP use 70–80%.
Will my landlord be okay with this?
Most are fine since installation is non-permanent. Check your lease.
